Reducing CO2

Doing our part to combat climate change

If we want to slow down or even stop climate change, we have to reduce our CO2 emissions - that much is clear to all of us. Currently, however, we’re causing ever more carbon dioxide (CO2) to enter the Earth's atmosphere each year: In 2019, 36.4 billion tonnes were emitted, the highest level ever was reached. What does a high content of carbon dioxide in the earth's atmosphere mean? It means the warming of the earth's climate and thus an imbalance in the ecosystem - with long-term fatal consequences for the entire planet.

Air travel, car traffic, water consumption, land, goods, etc., of course also contribute their share to global CO2 emissions. According to the German Federal Environment Agency, five percent of emissions harmful to the environment are caused by tourism. That’s more than one billion tons of CO2, which is reason enough for us - as a region dominated by tourism - to consider which measures we can take to reduce CO2 emissions.

No one can achieve this goal alone, but with many small steps, big steps are possible! #wetogether can make a holiday in the Wilder Kaiser region more climate-friendly. Tips and tricks for CO2 reduction during your stay as well as a calculator for your personal footprint can be found on this page.
